Cricket News sort by England Vs West Indies 3rd Test Match at Birmingham - Jun 7-11, 2012

The third Test between England and West Indies ended in an expected draw at Edgbaston in Birmingham because of the poor weather. The final day’s play was completely washed out by persistent rain and there was not a chance for even a single ball to be bowled.

West Indies wicket-keeper Denesh Ramdin registered his second Test century on Sunday in the rain-marred Edgbaston Test. His second hundred came in his 45th Test and, ironically, while Ramdin held up a chit which read ‘Yea Viv talk nah’ after reaching the landmark, he was only confirming the point the great Viv Richards made about him.

Perhaps it is because they think it certain that this game will end in a tame draw; or perhaps they feared there would have been more disruptions due to the weather; or maybe it was the ticket prices; £43 is a lot of money in these hard times.

If they didn’t know before, England today found that their back-up pacers were of high quality when they restricted a hard fighting West Indies to 280/8 at stumps. Graham Onions and Tim Bresnan ended with three wickets each, while the pacey Steven Finn had two.

The England-West Indies, 3rd Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham is yet to start as the Second Day’s play was also washed out because of persistent rain. Not a single ball was bowled and the toss is yet to happen and the Test Match is now left with just three days.

West Indies’ leading batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul is doubtful to play in the third and final Test at Birmingham because of a side injury.

England Vs West Indies, Day 1, Third Investec Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham - Update

Surrey Wicket Keeper Steven Davies has been asked to join the England Squad for the Third Investec Test at Edgbaston following an eye infection to Matt Prior.

West Indies may have lost yet another Test series against a higher ranked team. However, they still have something to play for going into the final Test. They will be keen to avoid a whitewash. It will be a tough job for sure, but they can look at some real positives going into the Edgbaston Test -- some created by themselves and the other thanks to the opposition.
